Colts’ Tyler Warren injury update is close to best-case scenario
As Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren had an injury scare on Wednesday ahead of the regular season, there was concern that it could impact his status for Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13. While Colts fans have been aching for any injury updates on Warren, the latest on the tight end is sure to relieve the worry of any fan.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Warren is only “expected to miss about a week” with the “minor groin injury” sustained during practice.
“Colts TE Tyler Warren is expected to miss about a week with a minor groin injury suffered in training camp, source says. No worries for Week 1,” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Warren went down with the groin injury during Wednesday’s practice, happening specfically on 11-on-11 drills, going down on a route, leading to the 24-year-old walking off with a trainer and a limp, according to The Athletic’s James Boyd.
“Colts TE Tyler Warren went down on a route in 11-on-11. Got up clutching at his groin area. He’s now on the sideline, not practicing. Talking to a trainer,” Boyd wrote on X.
“Colts TE Tyler Warren walked off with a trainer. Noticeable limp,” Boyd continued.
Colts’ Tyler Warren was having a “phenomenal” training camp
Warren emerged as a top pass-catcher for the Colts in his rookie season for the team after being selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, coming out of Penn State.
Subsequently, recording 817 yards on 76 catches with four touchdowns, along with a team-leading 112 targets, Warren is due for a jump in his sophomore season. Head coach Shane Steichen said on “The Pat McAfee Show” that the tight end has looked “phenomenal” in training camp.
“He’s having a hell of a camp right now,” Steichen said on Aug. 11. “he’s just a tremendous player that we try to, you know, get him the ball any way we can.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen when Warren returns to action for Indianapolis, though it seems his status for Week 1 against the Ravens on Sept. 13 won’t be in jeopardy.
