College Football 27 Gameplay

College Football 27 is an American Football video game published by EA Sports and developed by EA Orlando. It’s the third annual installment of the series since its return in 2024. This year’s installment includes improvements for every mode as well as the overall gameplay experience.

Gameplay received a lot of love this year, including improved WR/DB battles, a new QB sneak meter, Dynamic Weather, and more control in pre-play adjustments. Additionally, there’s a new catching meter, defensive improvements, and more.

The new WR/DB improvements make route awareness much more important. The new Jostle mechanic creates different points during a route where a DB may start a jostle interaction with a receiver. Furthermore, he determines whether he wants to challenge route, which is where your ratings determine who wins.

The next biggest addition is the all-new QB Sneak Meter which essentially turns the QB sneak into a skill-check. A QB’s size and skill will help determine if he wins that battle, and so will the ratings of the offensive and defensive line.

Dynamic Weather now brings evolving weather patterns throughout the game. It’ won’t just rain in one consistent speed anymore. Same goes for snow, as the field and weather will dramatically change by the end of the game. You can start a game and notice a bit of snow. But by the fourth quarter you may be limited to just running the ball as the weather gets worse.

College Football 27 also features an improved tackling system, and a new catching meter that helps dictate whether you can catch an oncoming pass. While it won’t always guarantee a catch, it significantly increases your chances of catching it.

There’s tons of new gameplay improvements you’ll notice across several modes. And speaking of those modes…

Mascot Mashup makes it’s highly-anticipated return in College Football 27. For those new to EA College Football, Mascot Mashup is a mode from the old NCAA Football games. Overall, you control a team of your school’s mascot that all boast a 99 OVR. These Mascots are extremely talented, making them capable of performing some extreme plays.

More obviously, Dynasty and Road To Glory make their return this year.

The biggest addition to Dynasty this year includes the all-new Athletic Director, whose expectations will determine if you’re a good fit for the school. Each AD has different goals that you’ll need to complete in order to earn their approval. If you can’t reach their goals, you may end up going to another program.

Additionally, the NIL is making its way to Dynasty, adding another obstacle to retaining your star players. A superstar player may prioritize NIL over things, making it important to invest in them. However, NIL isn’t just an infinite resource, meaning you’ll need to manage how you to try to keep your favorite players.

That’s not the only new challenge coming your way. Building and maintaining different facilities may also attract players. But just make sure you save enough resources to keep those facilities in tip-top-shape.

Another big addition is Coach Mode, allowing you to watch the game from the sidelines. Select their plays, make pre-play adjustments, and even decide when your players get to start the play. Coach Mode brings those old College Football 24 Coach memes to life, and brings another way to experience Dynasty.

Stadium Builder also makes its way to CFB 27, letting you build your own field for your own program. In addition with Team Builder, these modes let you literally create your own program from the ground up. You can even add sixteen of your created teams to Road To Glory.

And speaking of Road To Glory, that returns, too, with all-new improvements and more.

The biggest thing to impact RTG this year is the new positions. You can now play as a Tight End, Edge Rusher, or Free Safety, in addition to the five positions from the previous entries.

RTG also features a new player build screen similar to that of other sports titles like NBA 2K. You receive a specific amount of points to spend on your player’s max potential, allowing you more control over how they play. These aren’t there stats when you begin playing, but rather what they can be if you put in the work. Some stats are linked together, meaning improving one category improves another.

The High School experience returns. Like always, build your tape, impress coaches, and earn offers to various schools throughout the country. Once in College, you can track your standing in the NFL Draft, as well as the moments that made you go higher in the mock drafts.

During your school year, you need to manage your training, health, education, and more, all while trying to win games and earn a spot in the playoffs. Throughout your career, you’ll deal with different dilemmas and situations that will impact one of these categories. Perhaps the biggest new addition are the all-new tests that you’ll actually need to take in order to pass.

Upgrade your player each year and fight your way to becoming one of the best rated players in the game.

Overall, that includes everything we know about the College Football 27 Release Date, Gameplay, and Trailer. We look forward to heading out to the field once more and playing with our favorite schools.
