Clemson lands 2027 IOL over Penn State, Georgia

Clemson football is putting together strong offseason moves, which stretched to Memorial Day. The Tigers started the holiday weekend landing four-star wide receiver Jamarian Simmons. Now they’ve defeated Penn State and Georgia for four-star offensive tackle Carter Jones Monday.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder confirmed his decision via Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals. The standout from Poquoson, Virginia, even dropped this message via Fawcett.

“I’M ALL IN! A Clemson man needs no introduction!”
Jones posted.

He rises as a critical College Football Recruiting win for Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. The two-time national champion head coach pulls in the nation’s No. 53 overall tackle per On3/Rivals. But 247Sports calls him the nation’s No. 16 OT talent and Virginia’s fifth-best prospect.

Jones and Simmons have helped put together a solid May on the recruiting trail. Swinney and the Tigers landed four-star safety Jarrell Chandler on May 18. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder gave Clemson a top 30 prospect at safety and turned down powers Tennessee and Miami.

But Swinney faces the hot seat this fall. His 2025 Clemson team underachieved following its Atlantic Coast Conference championship run. Even star quarterback Cade Klubnik downgraded from potential top 10 first round selection to landing in Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Klubnik landed in the fourth round to the New York Jets.

Clemson looks ready to earn the national spotlight in Week 1, though. The LSU Tigers and Lane Kiffin are first on deck for Clemson. It’s likely that ESPN College GameDay will pull up for the game as it marks Kiffin’s LSU coaching debut. Clemson and Swinney also face LSU for the first time since the 2019 season national title game.
