Cheyenne Parker-Tyus finalizing ‘team-friendly’ contract with Aces

The defending champion Las Vegas Aces have managed to keep their title core together with the re-signing of Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray and Jewell Loyd, and the expected re-signing of A’ja Wilson. The next step is to bolster the team’s depth, which the Aces did in coming to an agreement with Cheyenne Parker-Tyus on a new free agency contract, as per Callie Fin of The Las Vegas Review Journal.

Cheyenne Parker-Tyus’ new free agency contract with the Aces is expected to be a team friendly deal, although details of the contract were not immediately available. Parker-Tyus initially signed a one-year contract with the Aces last offseason in what was a pay cut for her.

She missed the majority of the season while pregnant, and made her return in time for the Aces’ championship run after giving birth a couple of weeks before the All-Star break.

Parker-Tyus only appeared in two regular season games, but did play in six playoff games as the Aces won their third championship in four years. She shot 40 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the 3-point line during the postseason. She didn’t really make too much of an impact, but given a full offseason and training camp, she is one of the best backup centers in the league.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft, she began her career with the Chicago Sky where she played for six seasons before signing with the Atlanta Dream in 2021. The 11-year veteran was an All-Star just three seasons ago when she averaged a career-high 15.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.5 blocked shots while shooting 48.2 percent shooting from the field.
