Chandler Parsons says quiet part out loud about LeBron James-Golden State possibility

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons is pouring cold water on the Golden State Warriors being contenders if they signed LeBron James. ClutchPoints senior NBA reporter Brett Siegel reported on Thursday’s edition of Clutch Scoops that the Warriors will go all-in on pursuing LeBron James in free agency this summer.

“League sources telling us at ClutchPoints that the Warriors are very much open to pursuing LeBron James and they plan to do so this offseason in free agency,” Siegel said. “LeBron James, at the end of his career, he could still contribute a high level, we saw that in the playoffs. Pairing him with Stephen Curry is going to be something that the Warriors look to pursue over the next few weeks.

Siegel added, “It seemed very doubtful, it seemed low percentage, now it’s kind of questionable. Now there’s going to be some legs to this… That same source told us that Steph is planning on meeting and talking with LeBron about potentially joining the Warriors over the course of the next few weeks leading up to free agency.”

On the latest edition of Fan Duel TV’s Run It Back Parsons was bullish on if adding James to going and stayed would increase their chances of contention. He thinks the pairing between Curry and James would work but it wouldn’t lead to sustained winning.

“We’re talking the Western Conference with Spurs, OKC, Denver, Houston, Lakers, Minnesota. They’re not going to be better than most of those upper echelon teams.”

He added, “Now, it would be awesome. It would be incredible to see Steph and Draymond and LeBron James wear a jersey in that arena. For Steve Kerr, I think it would be a cool story. But, I don’t think it moves the needle for the Warriors to be a championship contender, though. At all.”
