Celtics’ Jaylen Brown drops ‘prime’ take as trade talks circulate

The Boston Celtics are in the midst of what could be a very eventful offseason for the future direction of the franchise. Recently, it was reported by NBA insider Marc Stein that multiple teams, including the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks, have interest in Boston All-Star Jaylen Brown.

For his part, Brown seems locked in on finding ways to get even better prior to the 2026-27 season.

“I will continue to get better…I’m coming into my prime. My mind, my body, my athleticism are all coming together. I’m excited to see what I can do and where I can go with it. I don’t think I’ve reached my limit yet,” said Brown on a recent Twitch stream, per Daniel Donabedian of Celtics Wire on X, formerly Twitter.

Brown put together the best season of his career in 2025-26 with Jayson Tatum sidelined for most of the year, leading Boston to perform well above expectations in what was initially supposed to be a gap year.

However, the Celtics’ flameout in the playoffs, which featured a blown 3-1 lead against the Philadelphia 76ers, made it clear that this roster still has a ways to go in order to climb back into the championship mix, and they could certainly field some massive return packages in exchange for Brown, who won the Finals MVP award to cap off Boston’s 2024 title run.

Jayson Tatum proved that he is still very much the same player post-Achilles injury, so if Boston could get some pieces back in a Brown trade that helped to balance out the roster with more overall talent, it could be worth exploring.

For now, however, Brown seems content to put his head down and get even better this summer.
