Carlos Correa’s 2026 season officially over after successful ankle surgery
The Houston Astros are not having a great season, and it didn’t get any better when it was announced that Carlos Correa needed season-ending ankle surgery. Correa had a torn tendon in his left ankle, and it just added to the list of injuries that they were dealing with.
The good news is that Correa had successful surgery on this ankle, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
“Update from Astros: Carlos Correa underwent successful peroneus brevis tendon repair surgery on his left ankle today. He will be out the remainder of the 2026 season,” McTaggart wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Correa was hitting .279/.369/.418 across 32 games played before the injury, and he was playing well, even with the Astros as a whole not clicking. Now, the Astros will have to find out how to fill his absence, and it won’t be that easy unless they plan on making some type of trade.
The one person whose name has popped up in rumors is Yordan Alvarez, but the team isn’t looking to trade him, according to Will Kunkel.
“I am told Astros star Yordan Alvarez is ‘NOT ON THE MARKET,’ per a source. There have been ZERO calls of interest on Alvarez at this point,” Kunkel wrote on X.
If nothing changes, the Astros could be in danger of losing the season early, and they may head into trying to rebuild the team. It would be a tough position to be in, especially when thinking about the expectations they had coming into the season.
