Cardinals rumors: Jeremiyah Love buzz at No. 3 reaches fever pitch right before draft

The Arizona Cardinals could be a pivot point at the top of the 2026 NFL Draft. Arizona could go in several different directions, with Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love suddenly seeming like a prime target. The hype around Love only continues to grow as the draft inches closer and closer.

Multiple NFL insiders have the Cardinals drafting the superstar running back one day before the draft.

ESPN’s Peter Schrager released his final mock draft on Wednesday, in which he explained why Arizona might pick Love at third overall.

“This could be a trade-down spot, and I believe Arizona is listening. Teams like the Chiefs and Saints could have interest in getting into position to take Reese,” Schrager wrote. “But I also think the Cardinals could just take Love. Again, forget about positional value this year — most people see him as the top player in the draft, and he could be a jolt to the Cards’ offense. Love moves the needle for a team trying to get back in the mix in a crowded NFC West.”

ESPN’s Dan Graziano also emptied his notebook in a recent article. He speculated that Arizona would draft Love if they cannot trade down the board.

“If there’s a team out there that wants to come up to No. 3 for Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, the Cardinals would listen,” Graziano wrote. “If there’s no deal for the third pick, I believe — like my colleague Adam Schefter suggested is a possibility on Monday — the Cardinals would draft Love.”

It will be fascinating to see what the Cardinals do with the third overall pick. And how it influences the picks that come immediately afterwards.

The first round of the draft kicks off at 8PM ET on Thursday from Pittsburgh.
