Cardinals’ Carson Beck reveals simple way he blocks out ‘poison’
As the Arizona Cardinals made the pick to select Carson Beck in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the team may have found its quarterback of the future to develop with the former Georgia and Miami quarterback. While it remains to be seen if Beck will have playing time with the Cardinals, the quarterback would give insight into dealing with outside noise.
Whether it be with the Bulldogs or with the Hurricanes, there’s no denying that there has been talk about Beck in either his play or attitude behind the scenes that has been swirling around. Now entering the professional level, Beck has the right mindset regarding outside noise, whether it’s good or bad, as he calls it “poison,” via PHNX Cardinals.
“I never really listened to it, whether it’s good or bad, and that’s where I feel like a lot of guys mess up because they won’t listen to the bad, but listen to the good, but it’s all poison at the end of the day,” Beck said. “Either they’re fueling you up, or they’re tearing you down. And at the end of the day, the only people’s opinion that mattered are the guys in the building.”

Cardinals’ Carson Beck on what’s worked for him mentally
The 23-year-old is coming off his lone season with the University of Miami, where he recorded 3,813 yards to go along with 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, being a huge part in leading the program to a national championship appearance. Despite losing to the Indiana Hoosiers and fellow rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Beck showed he is capable of an NFL spot.
“Your coaches, your teammates, what they’re saying to you, what they’re teaching you, what they’re coaching you, if you can lock in on that, and that’s really what I’ve done the past couple of years, as I’ve continued to play more and more football. And again, it’s worked out for me from a mental standpoint. So again, I’ll stick to that,” Beck continued.
At any rate, Beck looks to develop as a quarterback and potentially be a part of Arizona’s future.
