Caleb Wilson’s question for Knicks’ Mikal Bridges hilariously backfires

North Carolina basketball star Caleb Wilson is expected to be an NBA star one day. But for now, he’s busy taking in the NBA Finals while moonlighting as a correspondent. While performing that role, Wilson interviewed New York Knicks guard-forward and former Villanova Wildcats star Mikal Bridges.

“So I’m here with Mikal Bridges, you know, Villanova superstar,” Wilson introduced Bridges before asking the NBA vet, “What was your favorite memory in college?”

Perhaps Wilson should have just asked another question; however, Bridges made sure to remind the Tar Heels star and everyone watching the interview about one of the worst days in North Carolina basketball NCAA Tournament history.

“Probably winning our national championships, Bridges said, “against UNC.”

Bridges’ answer drew a laugh from Wilson, who knew exactly what that game was.

Bridgs won two national titles during this time with the Wildcats, and the first came at the expense of North Carolina in the 2016 national championship. That game is best remembered for one of the greatest shots in basketball history, with Kris Jenkins pulling up from deep for a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving Villanova a 77-74 victory.

Bridges played in only 15 minutes in that contest and scored just two points on 1-for-1 shooting to go with two rebounds and a block, but that’s a win he’ll surely never forget and will always gladly bring up whenever he talks to someone from UNC.

Ten years later, Bridges is looking to win another championship, as he and the Knicks are just four wins away from raising the Larry O’Brien Trophy in the 2026 NBA Finals.
