Burnley v Brighton prediction

Brighton make the journey from the south coast as favourites, facing a Burnley side that has struggled for consistency. Both teams will also benefit from an extended period of rest, with this fixture marking their first in three weeks.

Only a few months ago, Fabian Hurzeler’s side found themselves under pressure following a run of four defeats in five league matches, which left them looking anxiously over their shoulder in the standings. Since then, however, they have recovered strongly.

The Seagulls approach this weekend’s contest having recorded four victories in their last five matches prior to the international break.

Among those results was an impressive win over reigning champions Liverpool, with their only dropped points during that sequence coming against current league leaders Arsenal.

This improved run of form has lifted the Sussex club back into the top half of the table. They begin the weekend just three points adrift of the top seven, a position now confirmed to secure European qualification for next season.

In contrast, Burnley face a significant challenge in their efforts to avoid relegation to the Championship at the first attempt.

Scott Parker’s side currently sit 10 points from safety with only seven matches remaining, and that deficit could increase to 12 points prior to kickoff, depending on results elsewhere.

The Clarets have managed just one league victory since October, a sequence spanning 22 matches, and have collected only a single point from their last four outings. Their recent performances have offered little encouragement in terms of a potential revival.

Home form has also been a major concern, with Burnley registering the fewest wins on their own ground this season, while only Tottenham Hotspur have accumulated fewer points at home.

Historically, Burnley have won only one of their last nine meetings with Brighton. Although they are unbeaten in three of the last four encounters between the sides, Brighton have not suffered defeat at Turf Moor in seven years and have lost just once in their last nine visits.

Brighton’s storming run of form combined with Burnley worrying lack of victories in recent months points towards a fairly comfortable victory for the visitors, a 2-0 away win perhaps the most likely outcome.

Burnley v Brighton betting tips

Seagulls continue to fly

Brighton make the trip to Turf Moor having won four of their last five matches and are without defeat at the Lancashire stadium in six years.

Burnley have won only one Premier League match since October and no team have won fewer matches at home this season the Clarets, who have also won only one of their last nine matches against the Seagulls.

Dan the man

Danny Welbeck has scored more goals than any other player on either team ahead of his trip to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon.

The Brighton striker has netted on 13 occasions, with only three players having scored more in the Premier League than the 35-year-old following his brace against Liverpool in the Seagulls’ last outing.

A card for Kyle

No player expected to start on Saturday afternoon has received more yellow cards this season than Kyle Walker, who has been cautioned on eight occasions so far in the current campaign, including one in the return fixture against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
