Bulls rumors: Ex-NBA owner wonders if Jerry Reinsdorf would sell for $10 billion
The Chicago Bulls are less than two months away from kicking off the 2026-27 NBA season. The team has had an interesting offseason, headlined by the additions of Norman Powell and Nic Claxton to help supplement the young core.
Recently, the center of the NBA world has been Mark Walter’s shocking sale of the Los Angeles Lakers to a group headed by Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, with some now wondering if other owners around the league might be wondering how much they could get for their respective franchises.
Now, a former NBA board of governors member has weighed in on whether the Bulls could go up for sale anytime soon.
“I mean, look, if somebody gives you a great price. If somebody offered the Bulls $10 billion, would [Jerry Reinsdorf] be a seller? Why not? But I just don’t know. Most people who buy these teams aren’t selling them,” said the former owner, per Tom Friend of the Sports Business Journal.
Reinsdorf has owned the Bulls for 41 years, and the prospect of him selling them now would certainly be jarring, to say the least. Still, money talks, and billionaires aren’t typically known for turning down opportunities to add to their mountains of cash.
Still, the former owner made it clear that teams won’t just be going up for sale left and right in the coming years.
“That’s the one thing I don’t think anybody really knows is: there is all this money out there. So the good news is there’s all this money out there, but you got to be a huge fan to be the guy wanting to do it,” he said.
In any case, the Bulls’ regular season is slated to get underway on October 21.
