Bulls’ final day of regular season plays out in ideal fashion for 2026 NBA Draft

On Sunday evening, the Chicago Bulls closed out their 2025-26 NBA season with a road loss against the Dallas Mavericks. The Bulls sat several of their key players in this matchup and ended up giving up 80 points in the first half, ultimately falling by a final score of 149-128.

The good news for the Bulls is that this game helped them increase their odds in the upcoming NBA Draft lottery, as the team now holds the ninth best chance at securing the coveted number one overall pick.

Additionally, the Bulls got some good news in the Western Conference, as the Portland Trail Blazers secured the eighth seed. This is important for Chicago because Portland will now have two chances to make the playoffs via the play-in tournament, and if they do go on to make the playoffs, their first-round pick this year will head to the Windy City.

The Bulls could certainly use some luck in the upcoming NBA Draft lottery after a dreadful 2025-26 season. It seems like a lifetime ago now, but Chicago actually began this season strong, at one point standing as the last undefeated team remaining in the Eastern Conference, but the wheels quickly fell off from there, as the Bulls stockpiled a bizarre roster comprised of mostly small guards that predictably fell on its face routinely on the defensive end of the floor.

Chicago recently cleared out multiple key front office executives and is on the lookout for a new regime to try to help usher in an era of success for the Bulls after several straight seasons mired in mediocrity.

In any case, the NBA Draft lottery is set to take place on May 10, coincidentally in Chicago.
