Bryce Harper breaks silence on Phillies’ potential outfield move after Luis Arraez trade

After watching a number of other National League powerhouses make big swings before the 2026 MLB trade deadline, the Philadelphia Phillies got in on the action, acquiring three-time batting title winner Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants.

With the Phillies now expected to shake up their lineup to make way for Arraez, Philly’s former MVP let it be known that he talked to Dave Dombrowski about a potential move to the outfield and is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win.

“I mean, I’ve said in years past, I mean, I know everybody thinks it’s crap when I say it, but it’s not,” Harper noted. “I think any chance that we have an opportunity to win, I’d do anything for this organization, and they know that. So I texted Dave late last night and told him, hey, if anything pops up, make the move, and we’ll see what happens.”

Harper also commented on the addition of Luis Arraez, noting that he’s excited to add a player who consistently puts bat to ball and gets on base.

“Yeah, obviously it’s a guy that won the batting title a couple years and somebody that’s gonna put the bat on the ball and an exciting player. I think he just brings a lot to our lineup that he’s got that hit tool, and it’s somebody that can be really good for us. So I think definitely excited.”

Since landing in Philadelphia in 2019, Harper’s squad has had some success, including making it to the World Series in 2022, but they’ve plateaued as of late at the NLDS, where they’ve lost in each of the last two seasons. If Harper is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team get over the hump after the addition of Arrez and potentially others, that can only spell good things for the team’s future.
