Browns HC Todd Monken’s immediate Spencer Fano revelation after picking him No. 6

The Cleveland Browns were one of the most active teams to begin the 2026 NFL Draft, making two first-round picks and trading down. The crown jewel of their draft haul thus far has been offensive lineman Spencer Fano.

Cleveland moved from sixth to ninth overall and was still able to land Fano. New Browns head coach Todd Monken couldn’t be more ecstatic to begin his roster building with the tackle in mind, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“Browns coach Todd Monken said Utah OT Spencer Fano was their top target because of his “character, toughness and athleticism.” He said he’ll play left tackle,” Cabot wrote.

The Browns have completely rebuilt their offensive line ahead of Monken’s arrival. Tytus Howard, Elgton Jenkins and Zion Johnson are all new additions. Now, Fano will join them at least tackle.

The newest Brown spent his three collegiate seasons at Utah, appearing in 37 games. In 2025, he earned an 83.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking 12/632 tackles. Furthermore, Fano ended his time with the Utes as an Unanimous All-American, Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and the Outland Trophy winner among other accolades.

All offseason, the talk around the Browns will be who is playing quarterback. However, whoever is under center needs a strong blocking plan in front of them. Cleveland clearly viewed Fano as the best of the bunch, making him the first offensive lineman off the board.

Monken is still carefully putting together his first roster with the Browns, alongside general manager Andrew Berry. But in Fano, Monken knows he got the exact type of player he is looking for.
