Brooks Koepka oblivious to botched driver nightmare as reporters left stunned by Masters revelation
Brooks Koepka has revealed that he unknowingly played the first round of the Masters with the wrong driver setting.
Koepka and his team only noticed that his driver wasn’t correctly set up after his opening 18 holes at the tournament.

The American, who recently controversially returned to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf, posted an even par score on Thursday.
But he missed six of the first seven fairways off the tee.
And Koepka ended up only making seven of 14 across his opening round, as he failed to get under par to start.
However, his mishaps with his driver appear to have stemmed from his settings on his club, which is a Titleist GT3.
He found out that either before or during his first round at the Masters, his driver setting switched from A1 to B1.
The change meant that his loft was standard, but the lie was 0.75 degrees flat, which gave his strikes more of a fade.
For non-golf fans, talkSPORT’s Sean O’Brien explained the difference by saying: “It’s like a footballer wearing the wrong size boots.”
It’s unclear how the switch happened and Koepka seemed as confused as anyone when explaining the strange error.
Koepka changed his driver back to B1 after he and his team noticed the switch on the driving range on Thursday evening.
And it worked wonders, showing the huge impact it had on him.
He went on to hit nine fairways during his second round on Friday, ending the day on three-under-par.
His score leaves him close behind Rory McIlroy and the leaders heading into the weekend’s action.
Stunning revelation
As Koepka revealed the surprise error to his driver, the reporters asking him questions appeared stunned.
He was asked to clarify that he only noticed the switch post-round in what is a bizarre moment at the Masters.
Fans also reacted online, writing on X: “Nightmare fuel.”
Another golf fanatic said: “Wondering how this could’ve happened.”

‘Everything is solid’
After managing to bring himself into contention ahead of the last two rounds, Koepka was pleased with his performance.
He said: “I feel like I’m striking it exactly the way I wanted to.
“Obviously, driver, we clicked that into the right settings, so I know where the misses are. Everything is solid.
“Just the putter. I don’t know, I’ve been caught out—sometimes I feel like if I just would hit a few putts a little bit harder they would have been in.
“I could have really shot 5-, 6-under today.”
