Brooks Koepka blasts ‘pathetic’ results after falling short of FedEx Cup Playoffs

Brooks Koepka was the 2018 and 2019 PGA Player of the Year, but in 2022, he decided to leave the PGA Tour and move to LIV. Earlier this year, Koepka decided to make his return to the PGA Tour.

Now, in his first season back on the tour, Koepka will not be participating in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and he is not happy with his performance this year, speaking to the media after his round at the Wyndham Championship.

“I think it’s pretty pathetic that I can’t get through,” Koepka said. “Zero top-10s basically in two years. To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that’s very pathetic, disappointing. Just need to go home and completely reevaluate everything.”

Koepka entered the weekend sitting 86th in FedEx Cup points, meaning a top four finish was likely to be needed to move into the top 70 and advance to the playoffs. He started the event strong, shooting a 67 and 66, before shooting a 74-70 over the weekend.

“I don’t know what the deal is, got zero confidence, can’t putt,” he said. “I don’t know. There’s going to be a lot of changes here soon.”

It has been a brutal year for Koepka. He finished tied for ninth at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, his best finish of the year. Meanwhile, he missed the cut five times this year, including at the US Open.

Putting has been a disaster for him this year. He is one of the best in approach to the green, sitting eighth on the tour. Further, he is 28th in strokes gained and 52nd off the tee. He is 116th in strokes gained putting, though.

Kopka has not won a tournament since 2024, winning the LIV Golf Greenbrier in a playoff over John Rahm. He has not won a PGA Tour event since 2023, winning the PGA Championship. That is also his last major victory and last time he finished top ten at a major.
