Broncos news: Sean Payton earns ‘favorite coach’ admission from JK Dobbins
Denver Broncos running back JK Dobbins praised head coach Sean Payton during an energetic media session on Friday, calling him his “favorite” coach he has played for during his career while also expressing appreciation for the team’s belief in him.
Dobbins made the comments during his first public availability since suffering a Lisfranc injury that ended his 2025 season and after re-signing with Denver on a two-year contract.
“Sean Payton is my favorite head coach I’ve ever played for,” said Dobbins. “They believed in me from the beginning. They got my back and I got theirs.”
Moreover, Dobbins discussed his goals for the 2026 season, making a bold prediction that he will lead the NFL in rushing and appear in all 17 games. He previously shared similar expectations in June and repeated his commitment to staying healthy throughout the season.
The 27-year-old’s injury history has been a huge storyline, as he played only 10 games for the Broncos in 2025 before his Lisfranc injury ended his year. Before that, he missed all of 2021, appeared in eight games in 2022, played one game in 2023, and participated in 13 games in 2024.
Dobbins made his expectations clear Friday, setting his sights on the NFL rushing title, a full 17-game season, and a friendly wager that could leave him buying reporters drinks if he’s wrong.
Dobbins was fifth in the NFL in rushing yards before his 2025 injury, finishing the season with 772 yards on 5.0 yards per carry.
