Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers-DK Metcalf connection is already scoring praise
The end of the Mike Tomlin era in Pittsburgh should bring new energy to the Steelers. This is nothing against the team’s former coach who was on the sidelines for 19 years. It’s just that his decision to leave means that a new coach with at least a different energy and a new gameplan will have an impact on every area of the team.

Mike McCarthy returns to head coaching after stints with the Packers and the Cowboys. He was considered a fairly innovative offensive leader during his time with the Packers, and he may try to bring back some of that creativity while working once again with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The quarterback has already announced this will be his last season in the NFL, and Rodgers should have an excellent rapport with top wide receiver DK Metcalf. The pair already worked together a year ago and were fairly productive, but their second year together has a chance to be memorable.
Metcalf was the Steelers’ leading receiver a year ago as he caught 59 passes for 850 yards with 6 touchdowns. The passing game should be much more dangerous this year because the Steeler have added Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts. As a result, Metcalf will almost certainly receiver far less double coverage than he saw a year ago. Pittman is a dangerous receiver himself, having exceeded 1,000 receiving yards twice in his career.
Rodgers wants to go out competing at a championship level, and he should get a lift from his receivers. He threw for 3,322 yards last year with a 24-7 TD-interception ratio.
