The unique way Travis Hunter is preparing for two-way action in 2026

All eyes are on Travis Hunter at training camp as he aims to play both sides of the ball for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2026-27 season. On Friday, a new report detailed exactly how Hunter and the coaching staff are getting him prepared for the role.

During a segment on Friday’s episode of SportsCenter, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler revealed that the 23-year-old two-way star uses an easy-to-adjust jersey that allows him to quickly adjust on the fly. When he’s on offense, he wears teal, and when he’s on defense, he switches to white. From the sounds of it, Hunter appears to be getting even work on both sides of the ball early on in training camp.

“Hunter was moving pretty steadily from offense to defense during training camp today,” Fowler said. “In fact, he’s even got a fancy jersey that he wears that is multicolored, different from the rest of his team… Today on one play he ran down the sideline for a deep pass from Trevor Lawrence… And then a few plays later he was playing in the [Jaguars] dime defense playing in space as a cornerback. They’re going to continue to tinker and experiment with that Hunter experience.”

The former Colorado Buffaloes star packed on about 10 pounds of muscle ahead of training camp as well. Travis Hunter claims he’s even faster than ever before. If that’s the case, finding ways to get him the ball could be a key part of the Jaguars’ offensive strategy next season.

Although the Jaguars claimed in the middle of the offseason that Hunter would primarily play defense and periodically play offense, the early portion of training camp is suggesting a potential 50/50 split. But nobody will know for certain until the regular season finally kicks off.
