Brian Windhorst reveals eye-opening truth about Mitchell Robinson’s injury

The New York Knicks are prepared for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, but there is still a little uncertainty on if they’ll be fully healthy. Over the past week, Mitchell Robinson’s injury has been the topic of discussion, and though he plans to play in Game 1, he is listed as questionable.

Many have thought that it was Robinson’s pinky that was the problem, but according to Brian Windhorst and the Knicks’ injury report, it’s something else.

“It wasn’t his pinky. It was his fifth metacarpal. It’s a broken hand. When you break this part of your hand, it’s known as a boxer’s fracture because most of the time it means you hit something,” Windhorst said on Get Up.

At first, there were thoughts that Robinson injured his hand in Game 4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Knicks said it didn’t happen while he was playing. That meant Robinson messed up his hand off the court, and it sounds like he may have punched something.

Now, Robinson’s status will be up in the air to start the series, and if he does play, it will be interesting to see how much the injury affects him.

When Robinson was seen during Media Day, he didn’t have a splint on his finger, which may be good news. At the same time, he probably didn’t want to put too much attention on his finger, which has been the topic of discussion over the past few days.

Robinson has been key to the Knicks’ success this postseason with his presence in the paint, and they’ll be losing a key part of their bench if he can’t play. As of now, all signs point to him suiting up, but nobody will know how much of an impact he can make until he actually gets on the floor and plays.
