Brewers’ Pat Murphy reveals Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reaction that explains how good Jacob Misiorowski is
It’s no secret that Jacob Misiorowski throws heat, as his fastballs consistently go over 100 mph. The Milwaukee Brewers’ ace has become a sort of spectacle this season that even has manager Pat Murphy aback at times. On Friday, Murphy shared a story of a time he was bewildered by Misiorowski after watching Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s reaction to a fastball.
During an interview on the MLB Network, Murphy recalled a fastball the 24-year-old right-hander pitched to Guerrero during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Murphy claimed he saw Guerrero completely surprised by the pitch, which is incredible considering the Blue Jays star is one of the best hitters in the league.
“I think back to an at-bat with Vladdy, I think we were home against Toronto, and I saw his reaction after the first pitch,” said Murphy. “He kind of looked at William [Contreras], and kind of looked towards the dugout, like, ‘What am I to do with that?’… I’m shaking my head, like, wow.”
The talent is legit, and it’s evident anytime Jacob Misiorowski takes the mound this season. He’s on an absolute tear right now, and his numbers so far should have him in the early mix for the NL Cy Young Award. Through 11 starts so far in the 2026 campaign, the second-year pro owns a 1.83 ERA and leads all of MLB with a 0.828 WHIP while totaling a league high 100 strikeouts.
Misiorowski is expected to make his next start on Sunday for the Brewers’ three-game series finale against the Houston Astros. He’ll have a chance to continue his hot start to the season while potentially lowering his ERA even further, as he’s only allowed one earned run in the past five games.
