Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski says he felt like ‘s**t’ before historic game vs. Yankees

Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski has put together plenty of eye-popping performances during the 2026 season. But on May 8 against the New York Yankees, the right-hander really put on a show.

In a 6-0 victory, Misiorowski threw the seven fastest pitches that have been recorded in the pitch-tracking era. What now makes his feat even more remarkable is the status he was in when the burgeoning star was on the mound, via On Base with Mookie Betts, presented by Bleacher Report.

“To be honest, I felt like absolute s**t. I felt awful in that bullpen,” Misiorowski said. “I wasn’t hitting my spots. My arm was hanging a little bit in the bullpen. Kind of going through the motions to get myself warm. I was honestly sitting in the dugout asking myself, ‘how the hell am I going to do this?'”

Any concerns Misiorowski had were immediately squashed when he stepped onto the mound. Alongside making history and leading his team to victory, the righty pitched six innings of scoreless baseball, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out 11. Misiorowski fully put himself on the map after that outing.

Over his 11 starts total in 2026, the reigning All-Star holds a 1.83 ERA and a league-leading 100 strikeouts compared to 19 walks. If he continues pitching like this, the Brewers star will firmly find himself in Cy Young conversations.

Ultimately, Misiorowski is just trying to help Milwaukee defend their NL Central crown. With his velocity in the triple digits routinely, it’s clear the pitcher has become one of the scariest opponents for any hitter in MLB.
