Brayan Bello’s disastrous Red Sox season continues with nightmare start vs. Braves

Boston Red Sox pitcher Brayan Bello got battered yet again on Sunday. In a start against the Atlanta Braves, Bello was immediately hounded by Atlanta’s batters. He allowed three runs in the first inning alone.

“In his seven starts this season, Brayan Bello has given up 14 hits, nine earned runs and four home runs in the first inning,” MLB.com reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Bello stayed in for Boston after that rough first inning. Things didn’t get any better as he has allowed seven total runs through five innings of work. At time of writing, that game is in a rain delay.

The Red Sox pitcher recorded just one strikeout in those five innings. He allowed three walks, two home runs, and eight hits to the Braves. His ERA is up above seven at 7.16 on the year.

This certainly wasn’t what the team wanted. Bello had been working in relief lately for Boston, and things appeared to be clicking. He has appeared in nine total games and started seven on the campaign.

Boston is looking for answers with their rotation, as a slew of hurlers have been hurt at some point throughout the campaign. That includes ace Garrett Crochet. As a result, the Red Sox are mired in last in the American League East.

The Red Sox changed managers this year already, as Alex Cora was fired. Chad Tracy is the Red Sox interim manager. Tracy is hoping to turn around the club this season, as there is still time for Boston to smooth things out.

Heading into the Atlanta game on Sunday, the Red Sox hold a 19-26 record.
