Brawl Stars Barley Guide – Best Setup for Rare Brawler

In this Brawl Stars Barley guide, we’ll take a look at his attacks, stats, and skills and create the best build possible. Barley is likely one of the first throwers you’ll unlock in the game, alongside Dynamike. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Barley.

Brawl Stars Barley Guide – How To Unlock

To unlock Barley in Brawl Stars, players can:

  • Unlock him on Trophy Road when you earn 650 trophies
  • Unlock him from a Mega Box (1% chance)

You’ll most likely unlock Barley on Trophy Road. But if you’re incredibly lucky and get a Mega Box, there’s a chance you can unlock him sooner. But overall, he’s a very easy brawler to unlock.

Brawl Stars Barley Guide – Attacks & Stats Per Level

Barley’s Main Attack, Undiluted, is a long-range, thrown attack in which Barley throws a bottle. When the bottle lands, it breaks, creating a puddle that surrounds the area briefly. The puddle deals damage on impact, and if the enemy stays within the puddle, they receive damage from it once more.

Barley’s Super, Last Call, lets him throw five bottles that cover a wide area, creating a massive puddle. It deals the same exact damage as his main attack and shares the same battle properties. Essentially, it’s just a bigger version of Barley’s main attack, but can be cancelled via knock back, pulls, pushes, and stuns.

Additionally, take a look at Barley’s stats (These are Barley’s stats as of May 2026. All Stats are subject to changes and may not be reflected here):

Brawl Stars Barley Guide – Which Star Powers & Gadgets are the best?

Overall, Barley has two gadgets:

  • Sticky Syrup Mixer – “Barley drops a sticky concoction that leaves a puddle, slowing down all enemies that make contact with it.”
  • Herbal Tonic – “Barley throws a healing potion at nearby allies that creates an area that heals health every second for a brief period.”

Additionally, Barley has two Star Powers:

  • Medical Use – “Barley regains some health from each attack.”
  • Extra Noxious – “Adds extra damage per second to Barley’s attack.”

Furthermore, Barley can use the following gears in battle:

  • Speed
  • Vision
  • Health
  • Shield
  • Damage
  • Gadget Cooldown

Lastly, Barley’s Hypercharge, Bottled-Up Rage, lets Barley throw three bottles for his Super that cover a much wider area than the basic Super. Additionally, it destroys any bushes in the area.

Brawl Stars Barley Guide – Recommended Star Power, Gadget, & Gear Setup

For Gadgets, We personally recommend Sticky Syrup Mixer unless you play with a specific team comp that you have communications with. This gadget is Barley’s only method of slowing enemies down, which can help him survive sticky situations. He can also use it slow enemies on the other side of a wall, making it easier to attack them.

For Star Powers, it all depends on the modes you play. Medical Use can help keep Barley alive if he needs to hold down the Hot Zone. But Extra Noxious may work better in modes like Bounty where taking down enemies is the main objective. Switch between the two in various modes to see what you like best.

For Gears, we definitely recommend the Gadget Cooldown to recharge your Sticky Syrup Mixer. If you play on maps full of bushes, use a Speed Gear to help Barley traverse the map. Otherwise, we recommend a Damage or Shield Gear for survival purposes.

Brawl Stars – Which Modes Should You Use Barley In (And Which Modes You Shouldn’t)

Hot Zone

Barley works well in Hot Zone because his main attack size and abilities. He can cover most of the hot zone with his attack, preventing enemies from getting inside while helping to charge his Super. He can use Sticky Syrup Mixer to keep any aggressive enemies away. Additionally, he can use Medical Use to heal himself while attacking.

Heist

Barley makes for a good Heist Brawler, especially if he has enough cover between him and the enemy. His attack can damage both the safe and any nearby enemies or enemy spawns. If an enemy gets close, he can use SSM to slow them down and continue his attack. Try using Extra Noxious if you don’t care about healing and want to deal extra damage.

Brawl Ball

Barley is good at map control, making him a solid defender in Brawl Ball. And with his Hypercharge, he can burn bushes to take away enemy hiding spots. Use SSM to slow down any potential scorers, and Medical Use or Extra Noxious to stay alive or deal more damage.

Brawl Stars Barley Guide – What Mode(s) Should I NOT Use Barley In?

Gem Grab

Barley’s main attack size definitely helps in controlling the gem spawn, but his slow reload speed and focus on other enemies may prevent him from keeping that area bogged down. Furthermore, he won’t have many defenses against brawlers like Mortis, Edgar, or Tara, who can take him down pretty easily. Plus he has low Health, making him a bad Gem Grabber.

Bounty/Knockout/Wipeout

Barley’s main attack may have long range, but it takes a while for it to land. This may not be useful against other long-range brawlers, who with their distance, can easily avoid the attack. Plus, it only deals extra damage if enemies stay in the puddles, making it hard to really deal high DPS.

Overall, that wraps up our Brawl Stars Barley Guide!
