Blue Jays’ Max Scherzer mysteriously exits Dodgers game after 2 innings
The rematch of the 2025 World Series started with a familiar face on the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays. Max Scherzer, who started in the final game of the 2025 season, was once again on the mound to start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, in a bizarre turn of events, Scherzer was surprisingly taken out of the game after two innings.
“Max Scherzer has been removed from the game after just two innings and 36 pitches,” Keegan Matheson reported.
No official diagnosis has been made yet, but we will keep you updated on the latest report about Scherzer.
Prior to his sudden exit, Scherzer had allowed two runs on two hits. The Blue Jays pitcher struck out two batters and walked one. Both runs happened in the first inning of the game. Before leaving the game, Scherzer had shut out the side in the second inning.
Reliever Josh Fleming came in for Scherzer after he left. The Blue Jays reliever, at the time of writing, has already conceded four runs to the Dodgers. Fleming gave up a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman in the third, a sac-fly RBI to Kyle Tucker in the fourth, and an RBI to Alex Freeland in the sixth. Joe Mantiply, who came in during the seventh inning, allowed a solo home run to Shohei Ohtani.
After coming up short in the World Series, the Blue Jays have started the season on the wrong foot. They are 4-5 coming into the Dodgers series, struggling to gain momentum to start the year. If Scherzer’s injury proves to be a long-term issue, it’s another problem for a team currently riddled with a lot of them. Scherzer has been one of the elite players for the Blue Jays this season.
