Blue Jays’ George Springer fractures toe after scary moment vs. Twins

The Toronto Blue Jays are taking on the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, attempting to right the ship and bring the record back to .500. Unfortunately, during the contest, George Springer suffered a fractured toe injury during an at-bat in the bottom of the third inning.

The Blue Jays announced the injury on social media. Springer was officially removed from the contest shortly after the injury occurred.

“UPDATE: DH George Springer was removed from today’s game with a left big toe fracture,” said the Blue Jays.

The 36-year-old outfielder fouled a pitch directly off his right foot. Springer fell to the ground in pain immediately. Somehow, he still managed to finish his at-bat before being replaced by Myles Straw, per baseball columnist Shi Davidi.

“George Springer suffered a left big toe fracture, the Blue Jays say,” reported Davidi. “Myles Straw is hitting for him B6 with the Twins up 7-2.
