Blue Jays’ Dylan Cease lands on IL with hamstring strain

The Toronto Blue Jays suffered one devastating blow after another since Game 7 of the 2025 World Series. The joys earned in an unforgettable 2025 are starting to be dimmed by the heartbreak and ongoing injury misfortune this franchise has endured for the last seven months. John Schneider’s ballclub finally started to gain momentum after posting a season-high four-game winning streak, but it just got hit with another mishap. Dylan Cease is going on the 15-day injured list, per MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson.

The right-handed starting pitcher, who ranks second in MLB with 13.355 strikeouts per nine innings, left Sunday’s 4-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates with a left hamstring strain. Schneider was hopeful that the MRI would foretell a lucky break, but Cease will not get by unscathed. He will spend at least the next two weeks on the shelf. Every time the Blue Jays seemingly see the light, they are once again buried in an avalanche of injuries.
