HYDRAGUN HeatPod Sauna Blanket 2

This sauna blanket is the hottest on the market

HYDRAGUN HeatPod Sauna Blanket 2, £549

Pros: Hottest sauna blanket on the market, very fast to heat up, leaves you feeling relaxed

Cons: Zip only on one side, a bit fiddly to close completely by yourself, expensive

Rating: 4.5/5

First up on the agenda, we have an infrared offering coming by way of the recovery experts at HYDRAGUN.

The HeatPod Sauna Blanket 2 is said to be the hottest sauna blanket on the market, offering an impressive temperature range from 30-85°C.

Having just returned from a ski trip and nursing a few ailments, I wasted no time unpacking this sauna blanket, and from the get-go, I was quite impressed by what was on offer.

Nestled in a handy carry case was the blanket, complete with a simple and easy-to-use control system.

The packaging and feel of this blanket were nothing short of premium, which one would expect given the £549 price tag.

Fast forward to the first use, and I was really quite impressed by just how quickly the device reached temperature.

Within about 5 minutes, it was ready, with the temperature sitting at 60°C.

One minor downside was the fact the zip exists only on one side, which just so happened to be the side with less room next to my bed.

Zip woes aside, I hopped into the device and was instantly greeted by a warm and relaxing environment, perfect for a bit of R&R.

I did (rather embarrassingly) have to call my partner to zip the blanket up all the way because of the tricky angle, but once I had, I very quickly felt at ease.

At first, the recommended 60°C didn’t seem to be doing too much for me, but with just a few clicks of the controller, the blanket quickly heated up further to a more desirable temperature.

After a 20-minute session, I left the blanket with a fresh feeling of relaxation, and my sore muscles felt marginally better.

I then continued to use the blanket over the next week to relieve any soreness I’d accumulated from jiu-jitsu or strength training, and I can honestly say it did exactly what it said on the tin.

At £549, this sauna blanket is a significant investment, but if you’re serious about recovery, it’s a worthy one at that.

Gymproluxe tropical sauna pod

The Gymproluxe sauna pod delivers up to 55 °C of targeted heat

Gymproluxe tropical sauna pod, £265 (was £395)

Pros: 15 adjustable heat settings, simple pop-up design, heats up to 55 °C in 10 minutes, steam clears lungs and sinuses

Cons: Hard to pack bag into bag, can feel claustrophobic

Rating: 4/5

In a line-up of home sauna products that includes blankets and infrared mats, the Gymproluxe tropical sauna pod stands out because you sit inside it rather than under it, which feels closer to a proper spa session.

It’s steam-based rather than a traditional dry sauna, so the moist heat is more like a steam room, and I appreciated it for clearing my airways and warming my tissues quickly.

I initially wanted to set it up in the garden, but it was freezing, so I moved to the kitchen by a window instead.

It pops up like a camping tent and feels sturdier than expected, with thick fabric, taped seams and smooth zips.

The tent attaches to a heating element, which I filled with water and waited for it to fill the unit with lovely warm steam.

Usually, I’d switch it on as soon as I was back from a run, stretch while it warmed, then sit in for about 10-15 minutes before a shower.

With 15 heat settings, it’s easy to fine-tune the intensity.

By around 55°C the steam felt enveloping, my calves and hamstrings loosened within minutes, and my sinuses started to clear, even on the coldest of days.

The included chair is basic but stable, and the waterproof mat kept the floor dry.

The heater hums quietly but its not overpowering, so I could listen to a podcast while inside, but you could put on some nature sounds for more of a spa-like experience.

The downside is that a little steam escapes when you open the door, which is why I set it up next to a window.

Also, folding it down takes longer than putting it up, and I had to watch a demo videoon the Gymproluxe YouTube channel about five times before I got the knack.

But for compact, steamy recovery at home, it’s well worth the money, especially if you use it a few times a week to ease tension, relieve stiff muscles and enjoy 10-15 minutes of peace.

BON CHARGE Infrared Sauna Blanket

The BON CHARGE blanket uses velcro instead of zips

BON CHARGE Infrared Sauna Blanket, £549

Pros: Lightweight, heats up very quickly

Cons: Control device is very loud, very fiddly to up by yourself

Rating: 4/5

Next up on the agenda, we have another infrared offering, this time coming by way of the wellness experts at BON CHARGE.

A popular option on the market, this device boasts a Beauty Shortlist winner’s award, as well as an array of positive reviews on the BON CHARGE website.

The design of this specific device is notably lightweight, making it nowhere near as cumbersome to set up as some of the other additions on this list.

This also allowed me to move more freely when using it, so I could easily access the controller and doomscroll on my phone when I wasn’t feeling so tranquil.

On the subject of the controller, I was a little bit caught off guard by just how loud the beeping can be, so you might not want to use it when others are sleeping at home.

Loudness aside, I found that the blanket heated up extremely quickly, reaching its maximum temperature of around 80°C in just a few minutes.

Somewhat annoyingly, it is rather difficult to actually close the thing properly by yourself once you’re inside.

This is due to the use of Velcro rather than a zipped design.

As a result, I felt that the heat escaped from this device a little bit more than I would have liked because of the gaps left on the sides.

Regardless, once I was settled, I found it to be both soothing and comfortable, helping me ease the aches and pains of training and daily life.

Overall, despite a bit of a faff with the Velcro, it’s a great bit of kit for anyone wanting a quick and convenient sweat session at home.

MiHIGH Infrared Sauna Blanket

This blanket is perfect for melting away DOMS

MiHIGH Infrared Sauna Blanket, £315

Pros: Heats quickly with a wide range of settings, incredible for melting away muscle tension and DOMS, compact and easy to store, use, and clean

Cons: Higher price point (but usually on sale), temperature can be slightly inconsistent if you fidget

Rating: 4/5

I like to call the MiHigh Infrared Sauna Blanket a ‘mini celebrity moment.’

It brings the wellness of the stars into the comfort of my home, allowing me to wrap myself up like a human burrito and sweat myself to serenity without needing a garden shed big enough for a wooden sauna.

At £315.00, it’s a ‘plug-and-play’ dream; I just plugged it into the mains, set my temperature, and within minutes I was experiencing the soothing effects of infrared heat.

During my four-week trial, I used the blanket five times a week and found it became a staple in my routine.

The standout benefit for me was the incredible muscle relaxation. I’ve been lifting heavy at the gym recently, and the DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) caused by weights just melted away after about 25 minutes.

It’s also a game-changer for sleep; I’m militant about my sleep quality, and I noticed I woke up feeling much more refreshed on the nights I used the blanket compared to the nights I didn’t.

While it’s an investment, I found it much more bearable than a traditional sauna because my face stayed cool, allowing for longer, more beneficial sessions.

I even lost 5lbs during the month—though I’ll attribute that to a mix of the blanket’s detoxifying effects and my workout routine.

It’s the perfect excuse to lie horizontal for 45 minutes, watch Netflix, and force some quiet into a loud, exhausting life.

CurrentBody Wellness Infrared Sauna Blanket

The included accessories are a great touch

CurrentBody Wellness Infrared Sauna Blanket, £549.99

Pros: Comes with accessories (pillow, towel, etc), heavy-duty zipper, high-quality water-resistant material makes for easy wiping down

Cons: No armholes, short power cord

Rating: 4.5/5

For those looking to bring top-tier recovery into the home, this high-end sauna blanket from CurrentBody is a fast-pass to ending muscle soreness and enhancing your sleep, all from the comfort of your living room.

Inside the box, you’ll find a foam pillow in a water-resistant case, a towel to line the blanket for added comfort and sweat absorption, a power cord, and the blanket itself.

The included accessories are a nice touch, meaning you don’t need to worry about dirtying your bed pillows or reusing your shower towel every time you want a quick sauna session.

On first testing, I was pleasantly surprised by the size and length of the blanket.

It’s wide enough that you don’t feel squeezed in and long enough to comfortably fit inside with your head poking out; I’m six foot one and still had space to spare at my feet.

After firing it up, the blanket reaches your desired temperature within around five minutes, which is incredibly fast compared to other sauna blankets we’ve tested.

During use, the heat is distributed evenly with no worrying hotspots.

The high-quality material, combined with the heavy-duty zip (no Velcro here), does a fantastic job of trapping the heat for a “super toasty,” super sweaty sauna experience.

Coming in at about 7.5kg, this is actually one of the lightest blankets on the market, making for easier handling—though it is quite large, so storage can be a bit tricky.

I would prefer if this blanket had armholes to free up your hands to read a book or change the TV channel while you let the heat do its thing.

The only other small gripe I had was the length of the power cord, which is a little on the short side, though for those with plenty of wall sockets, this likely won’t be an issue.

At £549.99, this blanket is on the pricier side, but you really do notice the difference in quality.

Overall, the CurrentBody Wellness Infrared Sauna Blanket is ideal for those seeking a premium experience.

Its relatively lightweight design, noticeably high-quality build, and the inclusion of handy accessories make it a dream for home recovery sessions.
