Bengals QB Joe Burrow draws Zac Taylor offseason truth bomb
While it was a bit of a difficult season for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, the club seems optimistic it can bounce back for the 2026-27 campaign. After missing nine games last season due to a Grade 3 turf toe injury, Joe Burrow is preparing for a big comeback year (once again) next season. On Tuesday, head coach Zac Taylor opened up about Burrow’s presence in the facilities this offseason.
Taylor, who is 43 years old, claimed that Burrow is a “great leader,” according to Bengals’ columnist Mike Petraglia. Overall, Taylor was thrilled to see the six-year veteran quarterback on the practice field ahead of training camp.
“Great leader,” said Taylor about Burrow. “Great to have him here on the field.”
Much of the Bengals’ success leans on the shoulders of Joe Burrow. That was evident last season, as Cincinnati went 5-3 in the eight games he played. The club only managed to win one contest without the 29-year-old quarterback under center. Burrow ended the campaign with 1,809 passing yards and 17 touchdowns while completing 66.8% of his pass attempts.
While Zac Taylor is happy to have Joe Burrow back on the practice field, Burrow’s health should be priority No. 1 for the Bengals. He has missed seven or more games in three of his six seasons in the NFL, as he’s dealt with a knee injury (2020-21 season), a wrist issue (2023-24 season), and a toe injury (2025-26 season). When healthy, the former No. 1 pick overall puts up franchise quarterback numbers the Bengals can rely on.
We saw that in the 2024-25 campaign when Burrow led the league in passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43), which led to his second career Comeback Player of the Year Award (2021, 2024).
