Ballon D’Or 2026 Winner odds: Harry Kane and Lamine Yamal big favourites ahead of Kylian Mbappe

The 2026 Ballon d’Or has been difficult to see where it was going to go during a huge year of football, but after the seasons ending in May, the World Cup in the summer it looks destined to be between just a couple of stars.

Had France gone further in the World Cup Kylian Mbappe would likely be much shorter in the odds as he scooped the Golden Boot and also won so much with PSG, however Lamine Yamal after winning the World Cup has gone into 2/1!

He’s not favourite though, as Harry Kane’s efforts have not gone unnoticed this year.

At 32-years-old he scored 61 goals in just 51 appearances for Bayern Munich, along with another seven assists.

Between August 2025 and July 2026 Kane has been involved in a staggering 81 goals in just 65 appearances for both Bayern and England.

An exceptional feat that really is hard to beat this year, even without the usual need of a Champions League trophy to secure a Ballon d’Or.

In the past, that kind of record would have guaranteed the trophy and accolades but there’s fierce competition with the 19-year-old Yamal, who has landed the World Cup, the La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana.

Yamal scored 16 and assisted 11 in La Liga, while being involved in a further ten in their Champions League campaign and his contributions to both club and country rightfully put him right up there in the list of contenders to win the Ballon d’Or.

There are just six players who are now single digit prices, with Ousmane Dembele starting out the list of those 20/1 and higher in the Ballon d’Or betting market.

One of the biggest prices of the main six is Lionel Messi.

Had the World Cup gone another way and perhaps gone wildly different for Argentina’s tactics, Messi would likely be the main choice to scoop yet another Ballon d’Or.

We’ve seen numerous seasons the award go to the player that has contributed plenty, but it’s not always come down to goals and assists.

Rodri and Luka Modric are prime examples of that, but Kane’s personal achievements and scoring records along with his contribution to his team when dropping back to a more midfield role puts him right at the top of the betting.
