Preston vs Blackburn prediction
Preston head into Saturday lunchtime’s Lancashire derby still looking for their first points of the Championship season having fallen to their fifth consecutive defeat in all competitions on Tuesday night with a 3-1 defeat at home to Bristol City.
The defeat for Paul Heckingbottom’s side leaves them rock bottom of the Championship table and with pressure piling on the manager as he enters his third year in charge of the club.
Victory in a derby over their local rivals would go a long way to buying the 49-year-old more time in the job, with a victory on Saturday crucial to both teams, neither of whom head into the weekend in any sort of form.
Blackburn make the short trip to Deepdale having won only one of their last five matches, putting an end to a threat of a hat trick of consecutive defeats on Tuesday night by playing out a goalless draw against a Lincoln side who had yet to pick up a point since promotion.
Tony Mowbray’s side had started the season with well with two wins and a draw from their opening three games, earning four points from their opening two matches against notable opposition in Wolves and Middlesbrough.
However, Rovers have since fallen to defeats against Sheffield United and QPR followed by Tuesday’s draw at Lincoln has left them looking over their shoulder rather than up the league.
Two out of form teams coming to blows on derby day this weekend points towards a score draw, perhaps a 1-1 draw looking the best bet.
Preston vs Blackburn tips
Derby day draw for two out of form teams
Neither team head into Saturday’s Lancashire derby in any sort of form, with Preston sat rooted to the bottom of the table after five consecutive defeats, while Blackburn head to Deepdale with two defeats in their last three games.
Rovers did manage a draw in their Tuesday night outing against newly promoted Lincoln, but the Imps started that game without a point to their name and Mowbray’s men could be handing out first points to other opposition on Saturday.
Three of Blackburn’s last four visits to Deepdale have ended in a draw and the signs point towards that run being extended this weekend.

Gudjohnsen among the goals again
Andri Gudjohnsen, the son of former Chelsea, Barcelona and Tottenhma striker Eidur, has hit the ground running in the new campaign in his second season in English football, having bagged three goals and an assist from his five matches so far this season.
The Iceland international, who came through the ranks in the Real Madrid academy, found the net in this fixture last season, scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 win at Deepdale in his first taste of the Lancashire derby.
- Andri Gudjohnsen to score at 12/5 with Tote
Cantwell carded
No player on either team has been on the receiving end of more yellow cards this season than Blackburn playmaker Todd Cantwell.
The attacking midfielder has been booked on three occasions already this season, and was also given a caution on his most recent appearance at Deepdale two years ago, coming off the bench to be carded after missing last season’s trip with a knee injury.
