‘Comical’ Andy Ruiz Jr vs Damian Knyba scorecards slammed as judges accused of ‘attempted robbery’

Damian Knyba narrowly escaped a daylight robbery in Newark on Friday night.

The Polish heavyweight contender dropped Andy Ruiz Jr in the seventh round en route to what should have been a wide unanimous decision win.

Knyba kept Ruiz Jr at bay with a ram-rodding jab for most of the fight, and won a minimum of 9 rounds in most people’s eyes.

That would have equated to a scorecard of 117-110, including the 10-8 round in the seventh.

And while judge Tony Lundy submitted this exact scoring, his two colleagues were way off the mark.

Instead, judges Glenn Feldman and Kevin Morgan gave it to Knyba by the narrowest of margins at 114-113.

That means that both men had Ruiz Jr winning six rounds.

Were it not for the knockdown, then the fight would have been declared a majority draw, robbing Knyba of a life-changing win.

The scorecards went down badly with fans and media alike as they took to social media to voice their disgust.

Esteemed boxing journalist Dan Rafael uploaded a picture of the scorecards, with the caption: “Two terrible scorecards in Ruiz-Knyba.

Having Knyba winning by one point is comical.

“Without Knyba scoring a knockdown, the fight would have been a draw.

“That’s an abomination of the highest order. What are we doing here?”

Award-winning broadcaster Chris Mannix tweeted: “Man, they really tried to rob Knyba.”

Prominent ESPN Knockout reporter Julius Julianis took aim at Feldman, adding: “Glenn Feldman, ‘the best judge in history according to USA journalists’, once again offered, as always, a scorecard (114-113) worthy of the Hall of Shame.”

Meanwhile, one fan wrote: “Blatant attempted robbery.”

Feldman has come under fire on multiple occasions for his questionable scorecards.

The American judge sparked major controversy in August 2022 by scoring Anthony Joshua the winner against Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.

He also, more recently, had Rolly Romero drawing with Teofimo Lopez in a fight he clearly lost.
