Avalanche’s Jared Bednar gets brutally honest amid 0-2 hole vs. Golden Knights
The Colorado Avalanche are trying to figure things out in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, after falling behind in the Western Conference Final. Colorado now trails the Vegas Golden Knights 2-0 in that series. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar is sending a message about his team, and the situation.
“We can’t ride the emotional roller coaster like fans, right? “Bednar said, per NHL.com. “You lose Game 1, you’re getting swept. If we win Game 1, we’re sweeping them. Like, that’s not reality. You have to deal with the task at hand and what’s to come.”
Colorado lost to Vegas 3-1 on Friday night. The Avalanche blew a lead in the third period of the game.
“It’s a fine margin for error, the difference of winning and losing,” Bednar said. “There’s obviously things in the game, especially when you gave up two in the third period, that you don’t like.
“There’s a lot of that game that I really liked, and so you’ve got to keep chipping away at the margins and we need to try and win them.”
The Avalanche looked poised in the third period to win the game. Colorado had a one-goal lead, which quickly turned into a one-goal deficit in a matter of a few minutes. Vegas scored all three of their goals in that period.
Avalanche were stunned by the swing in the third period

Following the game, Colorado goalie Scott Wedgewood was stunned by what happened.
“It changes quick,” the goalie said. “You bank on a seven-game series to get one next. That’s all you can bank on and prepare for that. That’s obviously the playoffs, it’s not an easy script. Nothing is set in stone or predicted or prepared.”
Colorado still has plenty of chances to pick up wins. Despite that fact, the odds are certainly stacked against the Avalanche to win this series.
“Teams with a 2-0 lead in a best-of-7 playoff round hold an all-time series record of 365-58,” the outlet reported.
Game 3 of the Golden Knights-Avalanche series is on Sunday night in Vegas. Time will tell if the Avalanche can turn things around.
