Anthony Edwards reveals ‘crazy’ way he backs up teammates

There’s no question that Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is a confident player on the court, letting opposing players know via trash talking. Trash talking has long been a part of the game, and Edwards not only does so when he is on a roll, but he does so for his teammates as well.

During a recent segment Anthony Edwards filmed with FI star Kimi Antonelli, the Timberwolves guard described his trash talking methods, and how that extends to his teammates when they’re on a roll as well.

“A lot of players don’t talk trash but I do. If I’m scoring a lot of points, I’m talking crazy! They can’t guard me out here man! He ain’t it. I be talking a lot of trash,” Edwards said. “I talk trash for my teammates too. If my teammate is having a good game, I’ll talk trash for him. I’ll be like, ‘don’t say nothing, I got you!’”

The 2026-27 season is shaping up to be a strong one for Edwards, with probably a good deal of trash talk involved. The former No. 1 overall pick is entering his seventh season in the NBA, and has improved his numbers each year.

This past season, he appeared in 61 games at just about 35 minutes per game. He averaged a career-best 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assist and 1.4 steals with splits of 48.9 percent shooting from the field, 39.9 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 79.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

With the additions of LaMelo Ball via trade and Jonathan Kuminga via free agency, the Wolves figure to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference again.
