Anthony Edwards makes statement with epic steal and slam dunk

Undoubtedly, the Minnesota Timberwolves are in a precarious spot. They trail the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals 3-2. On Friday, Game 6 unfolded at the Toyota Center in Minneapolis in what is a must-win situation for the Timberwolves.

Fortunately, they have their superstar talent Anthony Edwards continuing to lead the charge. At the outset, the Spurs jumped out to a 15-6 lead. At the 8:06 mark, Edwards stole the show with a steal and a wide-open breakaway slam dunk. A real sign that he certainly isn’t wanting to give in to the Spurs.

After winning Game 1, the Spurs took control of the series. They have been led in large part by Victor Wembanyama’s dominant force in the paint. Nevertheless, Edwards has kept the Timberwolves in the series as best he could. Over the course of the playoffs, Edwards is averaging 21.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

In the series against the Spurs, Edwards is averaging 23.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. He is also shooting 50.6% from the field and 40% from the 3-point line.

In Game 1, Edwards scored 18 points in 25 minutes of playing after coming back from a knee injury. He scored 12 points in the second game in 24 minutes of play. In Game 3, Edwards finished with 32 points and 14 rebounds. He came away with 20 points in 39 minutes of play in Game 5.

The Timberwolves are looking to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2024-25.

If they win Game 6, Game 7 will be held at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Sunday.
