Another AEW star out injured; confirms 4th surgery

AEW wrestler and former champion Luchasaurus has been going through a rough patch in wrestling for the past few years. Luchasaurus has experienced several hiatuses and injury breaks over the past few years.

Absent from in-ring action since AEW World’s End 2025, the 41-year-old recently announced undergoing his fourth surgery of the year. Speaking on a New York Knicks fan podcast, the veteran shared that he will not be in London for AEW All In as he recently underwent his fourth surgery of 2026. The surgeries were for both of his rotator cuffs, his left meniscus, and his right elbow.

“That’s the good thing about where I work, I don’t feel pressured because my buddy’s got a storyline going right now. We’ll make sure it’s the right time when I can come back. When I come back, because this will be the healthiest I’ve ever been I think on TV, which is crazy. A lot of these injuries are wear and tear over the years from trying to grind on the independents,” he finished.

The cuffs, which were done in Feb. and Apr. 2026, require a minimum of a six-month recovery period. He previously tore both of them during his appearance in a Dec. 2025 battle royal on AEW Dynamite.

“Around the end of October, as long as it all heals right, I’ll be cleared to start exploring what a comeback looks like,” he opened up and shared while addressing his in-ring return timeline.

A couple of years ago and last year, Luchasaurus missed significant time in 2024 and 2025 because of a life-threatening case of pneumonia. He returned at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Owing to his health issues, Luchasaurus has competed in fewer than 20 matches since the beginning of 2024. In addition to Luchasaurus’ ongoing injury, AEW Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale has also suffered a broken hand injury.
