Angels’ Mike Trout reminds media of no-trade clause when asked about potential LA departure

While Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout is enjoying this year’s All-Star Game, he and others aren’t happy about the salary-cap proposal. Also, Trout had a firm answer for the media when asked about his potential LA departure, reminding them of his no-trade clause, according to a post on X by

“Mike Trout repeatedly asked about a potential trade to the Phillies & waiving no-trade clause. “I didn’t think I was going to hear this question. I enjoy coming to Philly. I’m an Angel. I got a no-trade clause. So, it’s ultimately my decision. I love Philly.”

Trout is back home, playing for the American League in Tuesday night’s All-Star game.

Of course, the injury disrupted things. But Trout has been playing like his former self when he has been in the lineup. He missed playing from June 18 to July 6, but appeared in four games before the break.

In those contests, Trout hit a home run and drove in three runs with four hits in 18 at-bats.

On the season, Trout is hitting .237 with an on-base percentage of .390. He has 18 homers and 39 RBIS with seven stolen bases. The steals mark his highest total since 2019, when he had 11 in 134 games.

Over the past seven years, he has only reached 100 games played twice. But he’s on pace to do it again this year with 78 first-half games played.

For now, Trout is taking in the All-Star Game atmosphere, according to The Athletic.

“No player here had earned more All-Star appearances than Trout, the three-time MVP of the Los Angeles Angels, who was representing the American League for the 12th time,” Andy McCullough wrote. “He sounded thrilled to play the Midsummer Classic only 45 minutes away from his hometown of Millville, N.J.”

“Never would have envisioned this,” the 34-year-old Trout said. “But now I’m here. I’m trying to soak it all in.”

And he is, of course, respected across the league.

“I just really respect him,” Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger said. “I just think he’s so good and so talented. He’s been so good for so long.”
