Ange Postecoglou’s true feelings on Nottingham Forest job revealed
Former Rangers defender Craig Moore has revealed Ange Postecoglou feels he took the Nottingham Forest job ‘a little too soon’.
The Australian endured a nightmare stint at the City Ground, as he was sacked last October after just 39 days in charge and failing to win any of his eight games in charge.

Postecoglou‘s ill-fated reign represented the shortest reign of any permanent manager in Premier League history.
Worse still, his dismissal by Forest came just four months after he was axed by Tottenham in June 2025, despite leading the club to its first major trophy in 17 years.
The 60-year-old has since taken a step away from management, and is currently working as a technical advisor for UEFA.
‘A little bit more time’
Although Postecoglou will likely be targeting a return to the dugout in the not too distant future, he will be wary of jumping into another coaching role too quickly.
Former Australia captain Moore, who played under Postecoglou at Brisbane Roar, caught up with his old boss back home at December’s derby clash between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.
And he revealed that, on reflection, the ex-Celtic boss might not have taken the Forest quite so soon after his Spurs sacking.
Moore told the Go Radio Football Show: “I went to the Melbourne Derby in Australia, and I was in the box with both Ange Postecoglou and [former Rangers teammate] Kevin Muscat.
“That was good, we enjoyed the game and I had a good opportunity to speak with both of them.
“Ange was obviously talking about how much he loved his time at Celtic, but potentially (he) jumped in a little too soon with Nottingham Forest.
“All coaches have huge belief in themselves, but with hindsight he said ‘I should have taken a little bit more time’.

“But we know he is going to fall in OK.”
Could Ange Postecoglou return to Celtic?
Moore, who made 256 appearances for Rangers across two spells at the club, was then asked if Postecoglou had shed any light over a potential stunning return to Celtic.
Before becoming Spurs boss in 2023, the Aussie enjoyed a glittering two years in Glasgow, winning back-to-back Scottish Premierships.
With Martin O’Neill currently in interim charge for the rest of the season following Wilfried Nancy’s sacking, Postecoglou’s name has regularly come up in the discussion over the Hoops next permanent appointment.
However, Moore admitted: “I didn’t ask the question, to be honest.
“But I don’t know, sometimes great achievements and great memories are better off left.

“Coming back can sometimes throw up different problems.
“I didn’t ask the question, but look what I do know is he has a great fondness for the football club.
“He loved Glasgow, and unfortunately for me he was very successful.”
