Amazon issues revealing statement on Prime Video’s Hornets-Heat blunder

After an outage caused viewers at home to miss some of the NBA play-in game between the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, Amazon issued a statement explaining Prime Video’s botch.

According to a statement (via ESPN), Amazon claimed Prime Video’s issue was caused by “a hardware failure in our production truck.”

Luckily, the problem was resolved shortly after, and the spokesperson added, “Our teams restored the feed as quickly as possible to ensure fans could watch the conclusion of the game. We are conducting a thorough internal review to determine the cause of the outage.”

Hopefully, things go smoother in the upcoming games. Prime Video holds the exclusive broadcasting rights to the six NBA play-in games.

Even LeBron James was upset over Prime Video’s NBA play-in blunder during the Hornets-Heat game

This brief technical difficulty affected many watching the game at home. Even LeBron James, who was watching from his couch, was confused, writing, “Tell me the game didn’t just cut off?!!? Am I trippin?? WTH [man facepalming emoji],” on X, formerly Twitter.

With less than 30 seconds in the fourth quarter of the NBA play-in game between the Hornets and Heat, fans watching at home were hit with a technical difficulty screen.

When this happened, the Hornets were up by five points. However, the Heat were able to make up the deficit, tying it at 114 to force overtime.

LaMelo Ball then sealed the game in overtime with a last-second layup. This capped off his 30-point night. It wasn’t always pretty, as Ball made just 12 of his 31 shots from the floor. He also went 2-16 from the three-point line.

Despite the excitement of the game, the Hornets still need another win to make the postseason. They will play the loser of the play-in game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic. The loser of that game will then play the Hornets in a series to determine who will play the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons.
