Ally McCoist ‘custard-pied’ by weeping Prince William in tunnel after Aston Villa triumph
Ally McCoist was keen to reunite with Prince William after Aston Villa won the Europa League, but it wasn’t to be.
Villa smashed SC Freiburg 3-0 on Wednesday night to end their 30-year wait for a trophy in what was an excellent performance.

Youri Tielemans and Emi Buendia both scored stunning goals, before Morgan Rogers confirmed victory with around half an hour to play.
Spotted in the stands at the Besiktas Stadium in Istanbul was Prince William, who is an avid Villa supporter.
The heir to the throne passionately celebrated all three goals and was even seen wiping tears from his eyes on a huge night for the club.
talkSPORT favourite McCoist was also in Istanbul and looked to speak to the Prince once again, just a year after they met in Paris.
Prince William spoke to him on TNT Sports ahead of Villa’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain last season.
However, a second interaction between them didn’t come to fruition, with McCoist revealing how he missed out on speaking to royalty.
Prince parties for Villa success
“I had 15 minutes in the tunnel after the game, hanging on, waiting to see if he came down,” he said on talkSPORT Breakfast.
“He was enjoying the celebrations so much up in the stand, and he hit me with a heat-seeking custard pie!
“Effectively, I came back to the hotel, tail between my legs, went straight to my bed.”
McCoist also delighted in Prince William’s celebrations in the stands, as he added: “You could see him, he was absolutely in his element.

“It was brilliant to see, just a proper, proper football fan. I remember seeing him with his boy, (like) any dad and son at the game (against) PSG, when I first interviewed him, and he was fantastic.
“So unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to see him last night, but I don’t have any doubt we’ll catch up in the future.
“He was in and around the Villa camp last night, celebrating with the boys, which was brilliant.”
Villa celebrations ‘like a five-day stag do’
Whilst McCoist went to bed for a somewhat early night ahead of the Breakfast show, Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor had other plans.
“We went back to the hotel, had some drinks there. I’m walking back and I thought, ‘Go on, just get yourself to the square’.
“So I went to the square, it was absolute chaos. Not just the square, everywhere, thousands and thousands…

“I don’t know how many Villa fans are here, but I’ve got nothing but praise for all the Villa fans, even the ones that are here that didn’t have tickets.
“They have had a real, real party, it’s been like a five-day stag do.”
