Alleged Caleb Williams Madden cover leak is ice cold

The Chicago Bears impressed during the 2025 NFL season. Chicago almost made it to the NFC Championship during Ben Johnson’s first season leading the franchise. That success may have contributed to one Bears player receiving a truly special honor.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams may be joining an exclusive club of NFL athletes later this summer. Multiple screenshots appear to have leaked that Williams will be the cover athlete for Madden 27.

More than one outlet have posted images of the MVP+ Membership bundle, which includes the deluxe editions of both Madden 27 and College Football 27 from EA Sports. The images include the covers for each game, with Williams appearing on the cover of Madden 27.

At this point, Williams being on the cover is only a rumor. But Bears fans won’t have to wait long for EA Sports to weigh in on the matter, one way or another.

The official cover reveal for Madden 27 is currently scheduled for June 4th as part of EA Sports’ “Opening Drive” showcase. It will take place just one day before Summer Game Fest 2026.

If Williams is confirmed as the cover athlete, he will become only the 12th quarterback to ever grace the cover of Madden.

Of course, Bears fans may now be worried about the “Madden Curse.” NFL fans have noticed that the cover athlete on Madden often has an underwhelming campaign during the same season. The most prominent recent example was Christian McCaffrey, who appeared on the cover of Madden 25 ahead of the 2024 season. McCaffrey went on to log only 50 carries for 202 rushing yards and no touchdowns that season.

Regardless, fans have to be excited about the possibility of Williams appearing on the cover of Madden this year.
