All you need to know about 2026 Scottish Championship as John Daly’s son stars in Aberdeen

Just the third ever Scottish Championship will take place at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen next week.

The event was included on the DP World Tour’s schedule for the first time in 2020 as Adrian Otaegui won at Fairmont St Andrews.

It was initially intended to be a one-off but was reprised last year with Grant Forrest winning at Trump International.

Called the Nexo Championship, the event is back in Balmedie this summer amid the DP World Tour’s British swing.

The British Masters, Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship are coming up in the next few weeks in an exciting schedule as the Race to Dubai heats up.

Scottish Championship: Dates and how to follow

The 2026 Nexo Championship is taking place from Thursday, August 20 to Sunday, August 23.

It is being held at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire.

The course, one of the most dramatic sand dune layouts in Donald Trump’s portfolio, is a par 72 and measures 7,439 yards in length.

The action will get underway at 7am UK time each day.

The action will be live on Sky Sports Golf from 12:30pm throughout the week while talkSPORT will have regular updates from Scotland too.

Scottish Championship: Field and tee times

Former Masters champion Patrick Reed, who has won twice on the DP World Tour already this year, is the most high-profile name in the field.

PGA Tour winners Matthieu Pavon, Dylan Frittelli and KH Lee are also in action as are former champions Forrest and Otaegui.

England’s Dan Brown, Andy Sullivan and Marcus Armitage will be teeing it up alongside John Daly II, son of the ever-popular two-time major winner.

This event has a $3million purse with 3,500 Race to Dubai points up for grabs.

Scottish Championship: What has been said?

Defending champion Forrest and fellow Scot Ewen Ferguson are excited to be teeing it up on home soil again.

Forrest said: “This tournament is one that means a lot to me. 

“To win last year in front of a home crowd was really special, and I’m excited to defend my title in a couple of months’ time.

“It’s always an honour to play in Scotland, and I look forward to what I’m sure will be another great week.”

Three-time DP World Tour winner Ferguson added: “There’s no better feeling than playing at home, in front of the Scottish fans.

“It’s going to be an exciting tournament, with plenty of action on and off the course.

“Hopefully we can play some great golf to make it even better.”
