6ft 8in Matty Harris scores brutal faceplant KO on Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder undercard

Matty Harris settled his score with Franklin Ignatius in emphatic fashion.

The British heavyweights were at each other’s throats in the build-up, and that emotion spilt out into the ring as both men met fire with fire in the centre of the ring.

Ignatius came flying out of the gates, throwing hell to the wind, but as he did, he repeatedly walked into a well-timed right hand.

In the dying embers of the opening round, Harris buckled Ignatius’ knees with a sharp backhand in a foreshadowing of what was to come.

Midway through the second round, as Ignatius lunged over his knees, Harris landed a perfectly timed short right hand that sent his bitter rival tumbling to the canvas face-first.

The shot impressed talkSPORT’s Spencer Oliver, who rose from his seat and shouted: “He went down like a sack of potatoes, he was never going to beat the bell.

“Matt is making a statement there; he’s looking like a real prospect.”

Harris moves to 10-1 in victory, while Ignatius drops to 9-2.

The towering 6ft 8in heavyweight from Coventry is now eyeing the British title after his statement victory.

“I don’t have the words to describe [the KO],” Harris said after his win.

“I have to give most of the praise to my team around me…

“That’s what we want [a British title].

“We want to be turning up the levels all of the time.”
