3M Open betting tips: Three longshot picks for this week on the PGA Tour

After Ryan Fox’s Open Championship win at Royal Birkdale on Sunday, most of the world’s top golfers are giving the PGA Tour’s 3M Open in Minnesota a swerve.

However, the notable exception is world number one Scottie Scheffler, who is hoping to get his hands on a trophy for the first time since January when he lines up at TPC Twin Cities, where Kurt Kitayama tees off this week as defending champion.

Im can come to life in Minnesota

South Korea’s Sungjae Im has missed the cut on his last two visits to TPC Twin Cities, but he maintains the ability to win at this level with many of the big names taking the week off.

He does have some decent course form having finished 15th on his debut in 2019 and then going close three years later when, alongside Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo, he finished second, three shots behind Tony Finau.

Im was first-round leader on that occasion following a Thursday 65 and while it may seem that three top-10 finishes in 2026 is little to write home about, he was an encouraging 14th at Royal Birkdale last week and we could witness him make one of his strong pushes for another title.

Meissner should not be ruled out

There is definitely a strong opportunity for some of the lesser known players to make a big impression this week and Mac Meissner looks to fit in that bracket.

The American heads to Blaine having finished 14th in last year’s get-together and there have been strong signs that his form is coming to the boil just in time for a serious tilt at this one.

In recent weeks he has finished 10th at another low-grade event, the Myrtle Beach Classic, and then third at the Charles Schwab Challenge, so he knows what it is like to be in the mix on a Sunday.

Meissner followed that with sixth spot in the John Deere Classic at the beginning of the month and his 30th at the Scottish Open was not a shoddy effort either, so don’t be surprised if he becomes a factor.

Kohles could prove a hot property

Ben Kohles is another who heads to Twin Cities in decent form and will gain confidence for another trip to Minnesota having finished 24th and 20th there in the last two years.

He won the BMW Charity Pro-Am on the Korn Ferry Tour by four shots last month and followed that with top-30 showings at the Canadian and US Opens.

Better was to come with third place at the John Deere and he was 15th in his latest outing at the ISCO Championship, so there is potentially more to come.
