3 teams that should consider Brendan Sorsby in NFL Supplemental Draft

The post 2026 NFL Draft universe now has its most polarizing available pick yet. Texas Tech football quarterback Brendan Sorsby rises as a new late entry. All following Sorsby’s decision to leave the Red Raiders amid constant scrutiny over his controversial gambling suspension.

Pressure mounted onto Texas Tech involving the quarterback. The Big 12 Conference filed a 47-page complaint at TTU and threatened sanctions if Sorsby played. A Lubbock judge ruled in favor of Sorsby which prevented the NCAA from suspending him for the entire season, leading to the smaller two-game suspension.

But that decision sparked furious critics from Colorado head coach Deion Sanders to college football analyst for Fox Sports Joel Klatt. Now the defending Big 12 champs will pivot to Will Hammond behind center.

So now comes this burning question: Which NFL teams will take a chance on Sorsby? And will his gambling past prevent teams from luring him in? These three franchises likely will bypass the controversy and look at him more closely. Including one featuring Texas Tech representation.

Kansas City Chiefs can look at Brendan Sorsby

This destination makes sense for multiple reasons. Patrick Mahomes and his Red Raiders past is one, which can hand Sorsby peace in working with someone with ties to the university.

Secondly, Sorsby delivered his best success at the University of Cincinnati. The Bearcats’ most famous alum right now is Chiefs all-pro tight end Travis Kelce.

Finally, head coach Andy Reid has taken in players with a troubled past. A la Michael Vick following his prison sentence for running an illegal dog fighting ring in 2009 while with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pittsburgh Steelers are another option

Steel City presents another landing spot for depth reasons.

Aaron Rodgers is taking one more lap before ending his illustrious NFL run. The team is confident in Will Howard if Rodgers goes down and drafted Penn State star Drew Allar.

But adding Sorsby prevents the franchise from going after a quarterback in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft.

The third could watch Sorsby rise as the starter
