Zohran Mamdani gives Knicks fans simple reminder after Game 2 win

There is an intense amount of buzz and excitement in New York City, as the Knicks are better than they have been in years. New York is now just two wins away from winning the NBA championship. Zohran Mamdani, the city’s mayor, is getting involved in that excitement.

Mamdani posted to X with an image of him walking out of the Penn Station subway station. The mayor included a simple message with that image.

“Next stop 34th Street,” Mamdani wrote in that social media post.

The post is in reference to the next two games of the NBA Finals. New York is hosting Game 3 and 4, at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks lead the series 2-0 after winning two games in San Antonio against the Spurs.

Mamdani is a die-hard Knicks fan. He is expected to attend Game 3. So is President Donald Trump, who recently announced he would also be at the game.

New York fans can feel it that a championship is nearing. The Knicks haven’t made the NBA Finals for nearly 30 years. The last time they were in the finals, New York also played the Spurs. That was way back in 1999, before Facebook or the iPad had even been invented.

The Knicks won a thriller on Friday, to take the edge in the series. New York defeated the Spurs, 105-104. San Antonio struggled in the final minute of the game, and ended up losing the contest. The Spurs now face tremendous pressure to win in New York and get back in the series.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals is at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
