Indiana court issues temporary restraining order for Hoosiers’ eligibility

With the Indiana football program looking to repeat and win another national title, the team is getting back some key players from last season’s team who are involved in the recent story of players getting another year of eligibility. As Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti looks to put the program in the best spot, the defense is getting a huge boost due to the big story surrounding college football.

There’s no denying that the story around the LSU Tigers adding former NFL players to their roster has led to a myriad of opinions, as one instance has a court ruling an injunction that gave eligibility to “more than 40 athletes,” per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. That injunction included Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who were on NFL rosters, but are now looking to play for the Tigers.

This isn’t just former player son NFL rosters; as for the Hoosiers’ case, a state court has “issued a temporary restraining order” that gives defensive athletes Stephen Dailey and Kellen Wyatt the opportunity to go back to play for Indiana, via Thamel.

“NEWS: A Indiana circuit court has issued a temporary restraining order for NCAA eligibility that includes Indiana defensive stars Stephen Dailey and Kellen Wyatt, per me and Mark Schlabach,” Thamel wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “To be clear, it is the Court’s intention to place Plaintiffs in the position they were in at the end of their last college sports season.”

“Stephen Daley led the Big Ten in TFLs last year with 19.0. Kellan Wyatt had 8.0 TFLs in seven games before getting injured last year,” Thamel continued on X. “Neither signed NFL deals because of injury issues. Big adds for the defending champs.”

At any rate, the Indiana football team starts the 2026 season on Saturday against North Texas.
