The Welsh outfit followed on from their huge penalty shootout win against Nottingham Forest to end a near 30-year run in the cup.

Wrexham will make their first appearance in the last 16 since the 1996/97 season, where they lost in the quarter-finals to Chesterfield.

Their fifth round opponents will be confirmed during the draw on Monday night.

Premier League giants Chelsea will join them in the hat after their 4-0 win at Hull City.

Wrexham win big in memorable week

Cup success at home to their Championship promotion rivals comes four days on from the anniversary of their takeover.

Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have played a huge role in their success since joining the club on February 9, 2021.

They have overseen Wrexham’s rise from the National League into the Championship with three consecutive promotions.

Reynolds posted a commemorative video on his X account, which featured images of fans and celebrations from their five-year stint.

He wrote on X: “5 years, feels like we’re just getting started.”

And after his side’s FA Cup win just days later, it seems like another dream streak could be brewing.

‘Enjoy nights like this’

Wrexham boss Parkinson has encouraged fans to revel in feeling of reaching the FA Cup fifth round.

Speaking to the BBC post-match, he said: “This club has a lot of history in the FA Cup and we spoke to the players about that.

“Can we create our own bit of history by making it to the fifth round for the first time in thirty years?.

“Our confidence isn’t low. We’ve got the squad to cope, I think there’s too much talk in football about how we’re going to cope with another game.

“Every season is special in football and you’ve got to enjoy nights like this, enjoy the tradition of the FA Cup.

“We set up to get through and we have, and now we’re going to embrace this run of games and go full-on to try and keep our run in the league and the cup going.”
