There’s no denying the main attraction as Allen targets a huge upset.

Since making his debut back in 2012, Allen has lost only to top-level fighters. He was beaten by Dillian Whyte, Luis Ortiz, Tony Yoka, David Price, Frazer Clarke, Arslanbek Makhmudov and others.

The home fighter does boast important wins over Johnny Fisher, Lucas Browne, and my ex-gymmate, Larry Olubamiwo. He also scored a first-round TKO win last time out.

El Animal brings a 74% knockout average

Filip Hrgovic is a respected name among boxers and fight fans. If you don’t already know of the power-puncher from Zagreb, you’re in for a treat.

The 33-year-old arrives in England with a professional record showing 19 wins, 14 by KO, against one defeat. The spare result came against current world champion Daniel Dubois, with Dynamite ending things in round eight.

Ranked 10th in the world at heavyweight, Filip won’t rise too far by beating Allen, but he would keep himself on track for a crack at a world title. He’d fancy his chances in a rematch with Dubois for the Londoner’s new belt.

Since losing to Triple D in Saudi Arabia, Hrgovic has fought twice and won twice on points, beating Joe Joyce and David Adeleye.

Allen vs Hrgovic betting tips

It’s time to reveal my David Allen vs Filip Hrgovic betting tips and where to find the top odds.

The stats and form paid off big time last weekend at the Co-op Live Arena when Dubois got off the floor to stop Wardley in round 11 of an amazing contest.

I expect that the numbers will lead us to a profit again, and cover a range of markets to ensure there’s a bet to suit everyone.

Here are my three Hrgovic vs Allen bets worth a look.

Under 10 rounds

I am confident this will be the most popular bet of the week with boxing fans.

When betting on the fight not to travel the 10-round distance, you don’t care who wins. A first-round knockout for Filip pays the same as a late KO for Allen.

If we don’t hear the final bell and the judges aren’t called into action, you’ll beat the bookies and make a profit. It’s a solid option.

The odds available won’t suit those hoping for big wins, but I’d happily take a 4/7 winner every weekend.

Hrgovic has boxed 20 times as a pro, with only five going the distance. Allen has 35 bouts under his belt, 24 of which ended early. He also won by TKO last time out.

Bet on Under 10 rounds at 4/7 with bet365

Over 8.5 rounds

After eight rounds, you’re not concerned by who wins and how. You’ve already banked a solid profit at fair odds.

Like before, I’m more than happy to let the stats do the heavy lifting.

A bet on over 8.5 rounds would’ve landed in each of Hrgovic’s two wins since losing to Dubois. The towering Croatian went 10 rounds with Joyce and Adeleye last year. It’s worth remembering that Filip lasted eight rounds with Dubois before he was stopped on cuts.

Need more convincing? Over 8.5 rounds paid in five of the favourite’s last six bouts. That’s good enough for me.

What about Allen? His form shows he went 12 rounds with Makhmudov late last year, and 10 rounds with Fisher just before Christmas 2024.

I’m pretty confident David will lose on Saturday, but he has never been stopped before round six, despite mixing it with big punchers.

Bet on Over 8.5 rounds at 5/6 with bet365

Hrgovic rounds 6-10

I like to round things off with a bet for those who want more attractive odds. Usually, I’d play the method of victory market and fancy Hrgovic by KO/TKO, but I’ve found a better price.

In the round group betting market, you must predict which fighter will win and when. You need both parts of the bet to land, but the 11/5 makes it worth an interest.

My research points to Hrgovic winning between rounds 6 and 10.

You want to see the Croatian with a 74% knockout average stop an opponent with four KO losses already on his record. However, that stoppage must occur between the start of the 6th round and the end of the 10th.

Remember, Allen has eight defeats on his CV, with four by knockout. Each of those four losses came between rounds 6 and 10. Ortiz beat Allen in round seven, Yoka in 10, the same as Price, and Clarke scored a win in the 6th.

If the bout goes the way I expect, Hrgovic will make his usual fast start, while Allen will aim to hit and move, avoiding those bombs.

David is a better boxer than many give him credit for, but he’s a big guy, and dodging big shots will become more difficult in the later rounds.
